Dave Helmuth served as the Second State Commander from 1997-1998 (being the first Son in Massachusetts elected to the position) and then again from 2000-2001 as the Fourth State Commander.  He was unanimously elected at the State Convention in June of 1997 and was elected to his second term at the State Convention held at the Sea Crest Hotel in Falmouth in 2000.

Prior to being elected State Commander, Dave served as the original State First Vice Commander for Membership.  He was also the first Son in Massachusetts to become a Lifetime Member of the organization.

After leaving office as State Commander, Dave served several years as State First Vice Commander and Judge Advocate.  In addition, he served 3 consecutive terms as the National First Vice Commander and became the 1st Sons member from Massachusetts to be elected to the office of National Commander, in Louisville, KY in 2002.  He left office one year later in Orlando, FL.

David transferred his membership to Hudson 208 in September of 2001 and currently resides in Michigan.
