The Son of the Year Award is the highest honor that this Department can bestow on any of its members. The Son of the Year award is given to the member who most demonstrates the ideals of the Sons of AMVETS during the foregoing year. The award was instituted for the 2004 State Convention. At the 2006 State Convention the award was permanently dedicated in memory of Harry Dascoli, the 2nd recipient. He would have been the 1st recipient but was ineligible during the year of its inception due to holding State Office at the time. Due to the nature of the award, if there is not a worthy recipient for the award, it IS NOT GIVEN OUT. |
